The state AAA is predicting a slight decline in Memorial Day
travel this year. AAA projects 34.8 million Americans will journey 50 miles or
more from home…a point nine percent decrease from last year. In Wisconsin, nearly 685,000 are expected to travel this weekend, a 1.6
percent decrease from a year ago. Triple A spokesperson Pam Moen says even with the
slight drop…roads will be very busy today through Monday. Moen says there seems to be a direct link between rising gas
prices and a slight decrease in travel. She says the good news is it appears that gas prices may have peaked and should be
coming down soon.
