Republican state representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt thinks the
Fond du lac School Board may have violated the state’s open meetings law
when discussing a proposed resolution in opposition to the
governor’s private school choice plan.
The school board discussed the resolution at an April workshop session and according to the board
president reached a consensus in favor of the resolution. Thiesfeldt says he wonders why the school
districtplaced an ad in the Action Advertiser last weekend…before
the school board voted on the resolution at a regular meeting. "I'm pretty certain they must have expended taxpayer dollars to do that and that's another area as to whether that's an appropriate thing to do. But the bigger problem here is the fact that the school board has purchased an ad using taxpayer dollars in a local newspaper before there's any record of them actually approving this stance," Thiesfeldt told AM 1170 WFDL's Between the Lines program. The school board will vote on the resolution at their next
meeting.
