5-25-13 fdl man arrested following hit and run crash
A 29 year
old Fond du lac man has been arrested in connection with a hit and run accident. Fond
du Lac Police were called to the scene to the area of S. Marr St and 7th
St early Friday
morning to a report that a vehicle had struck a legally parked car and then
fled from the
scene of the accident. Due to the
collision, the license plate from the suspect vehicle was left at the scene. Officers checked the area and located the
unoccupied suspect vehicle a short distance
away. The vehicle sustained severe
front end damage with the driver’s side airbag being
deployed. A few minutes later officers
located the suspect, a 29 year old Fond du Lac man, in
another vehicle now as a passenger. During the
course of the investigation, it was discovered that the suspect had his two
children in the
vehicle when the hit and run accident occurred and who were still with him when
the
officers located him. The suspect and his two children ages four and six were unharmed. The suspect was also found in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia on his person. The suspect was arrested for OWI First Offense (with a passenger under 16 years of age), drug offenses, Hit and Run, and Obstructing an Officer. He was booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail.
