5-25-13 fdl man arrested following hit and run crash

A 29 year old Fond du lac man has been arrested in connection with a hit and run accident.   Fond du Lac Police were called to the scene to the area of S. Marr St and 7th St early Friday morning to a report that a vehicle had struck a legally parked car and then fled from the scene of the accident.  Due to the collision, the license plate from the suspect vehicle  was left at the scene.  Officers checked the area and located the unoccupied suspect vehicle a short distance away.   The vehicle sustained severe front end damage with the driver’s side airbag being deployed.  A few minutes later officers located the suspect, a 29 year old Fond du Lac man, in another vehicle now as a passenger.  During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the suspect had his two children in the vehicle when the hit and run accident occurred and who were still with him when the
officers located him.   The suspect and his two children ages four and six were unharmed.  The suspect was also found in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia on his person.  The suspect was arrested for OWI First Offense (with a passenger under 16 years of age), drug offenses, Hit and Run, and Obstructing an Officer.  He was booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail.
