5-25-13 former mayville high school teacher convicted of having sex with student

A former Mayville High School Spanish teacher has been convicted of having sexual contact with a 17 year old student.  At a plea hearing Friday in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court,  Shannon
Cardinal  entered a guilty plea to one count of sexual assault of a student by school staff.    Eleven other counts were dismissed and read into the record.   Judge Dale English ordered a pre-sentence

investigation.  The charge carries a maximum sentence of $10,000 in fines and six years in prison.  Investigators say Cardinal had sexual contact with the student on multiple occasions with the first encounter at the teacher’s residence near Oakfield when the student was 16.
