MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Critics of national education standards adopted three years ago in Wisconsin have packed an informational hearing to examine the issue. Wisconsin is one of 45 states that have adopted the voluntary standards that create basic requirements for math and English language arts. Criticism of the standards has been growing in other states, with citizens concerned about losing local control.
