The patience of Fond du lac city officials is running thin
as the Alcohol License Committee considers renewal of the Retlaw Hotel’s alcohol
and liquor licenses at their meeting Wednesday night.
City officials are recommending against renewal pointing out the hotel still owes more than $64,000 in
unpaid utility bills and property taxes, plus $81,000 in fees and interest. City council president Sam Meyer says the city has bent over
backwards to give the Retlaw an opportunity to meet its financial
obligations. Meyer says he would think the owners would have the money to
pay their bills If they really wanted to.
