Despite a promise to revoke its alcohol license if the bills
weren’t paid up the Fond du lac Alcohol License Committee is recommending
to give the owners of the historic Retlaw Hotel yet another chance. At their meeting Wednesday evening the committee voted three
to one to give the Retlaw until June 25th to come up
with the remaining $39,000. Committee member and city councilmember Rob VandeZande cast
the lone dissenting vote. VandeZande says its time for the city to "put its foot down and say enough is enough." The Retlaw owes back taxes and utility fees…but has been
steadly making payments since March, including another $10,000 Wednesday. The city council will take up the matter at their next
meeting.
