Mayville
Schools were put on lockdown near the end of the school day Wednesday afternoon
after a 911 caller reported to authorities that he saw two men near the High
School and Middle School looking into the trunk of a vehicle, and the caller
thought he saw a gun. The two men were
outside of an apartment complex at the corner of Clark and Breckenridge
Streets. Mayville Police Chief Chris
MacNeill says Dodge County Central Dispatch received the 911 call at 2:30 p.m. and
the schools were put on lockdown as a precaution. MacNeil says a
short time later, authorities located the suspects, a 21 year old Mayville man
and a 20 year old Sheboygan
man, and found three Airsoft replica guns. MacNeill says the suspects stated that
one was showing the replica firearms to the other. After police
determined there was no threat to the schools or citizens, the school lockdown
was lifted. MacNeill says the the
Mayville man was detained and authorities are determining if charges will be
filed.
