As Fond du Lac police continue to arrest drug dealers the
obvious questions are: how serious is
the problem , is the crackdown having an impact, and is there a need for a new approach in the court system? Twelve people were arrested for various drug-related offenses earlier this month,
bringing to 20 the number of individuals arrested in the last three months and more than
120 over the last year and a half. Assistant Police Chief Steve Klein says a key component is
breaking the heroin addicition cycle
for many of the people who are arrested. Klein says that’s why police support and continue to work
with the DA’s Office to implement a Drug Court. "It is something that the police department supports," Klein said. "DA Toney is aggressively working to get this implemented."
