5-17-13 fdl police say man threatened kids with an air-soft gun

Fond du Lac police say a gun incident Wednesday afternoon involved what’s called an air-soft gun.  A 27 year old Fond du Lac man was arrested after pointing the gun at some young people who were getting off a school bus near Morris Street and Haas Circle.  Assistant Police Chief Steve Klein says the kids thought the gun was real and police  surrounded the apartment before making contact with the subject aand arresting him.  "Apparently there has been some ongoing neighbor issues between this individual and some of the neighbors and he thought it would be a good idea to scare these kids and obviously he's finding out the hard way that's not the way to go about it,"  Klein said.  Klein says sometimes it can be diffic ult to distinguish an airsoft gun from the real thing. "They're very realistic looking.  If you put them side by side with one of our department issued handguns you would have a very difficult time in telling if that's a real gun or a fake gun."
