8-14 Another Person Sentenced in Death of Great Grandmother

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) — A Sheboygan County judge has set parole eligibility for a 14-year-old boy convicted of killing his friend's great-grandmother.
Nathan Paape will be eligible for parole when he's 45 years old, five years earlier than his friend, 14-year-old Antonio Barbeau, who was sentenced Monday for killing his great-grandmother, Barbara Olson. The 78-year-old woman was killed with a hammer and hatchet and robbed at her Sheboygan Falls home last September.
During his trial, Paape testified he struck Olson twice with a hammer out of fear Barbeau would turn on him. The Sheboygan Press Media says Judge Timothy Van Akkeren conceded that Paape acted more as a follower in the homicide and was slightly less culpable as a result.
