8-29-13 fdl council considers expanding hours for fire pit burning

The Fond du lac city council president says extending the hours residents can use outdoor fire pits will bring Fond du lac more in line with other communities in the area.   Council president Sam Meyer says he supports changing the local ordinance to extend the hours for open burning in residential hours to midnight on weekends and before federal holidays.  Meyer says residents also have to be good neighbors and not disturb others who are trying to get some sleep.  The issue was discussed at Wednesday night's council meeting  and the council is expected to take formal action at a future meeting.
