The Fond du Lac County Board has approved a $4500 livestock
damage claim for a group that provides therapeutic horseback riding for
disabled people. County Board chairman Marty Farrell says the funds will come
from an account established for
damage by dogs to domestic animals from
dog license fees. A dog running loose attacked several horses at the Free
Spirit Riders stable on Highway 23 east of Fond du Lac in June. Six horses were injured and the dog was killed. "We thought it was an open and shut case," Farrell told WFDL news. "There was no doubt that this happened and we felt the amount being requested was reasonable." The county will seek
reimbursement from the dog’s owner.
