9-2-13 former council president among applicants for council opening

Eleven candidates have applied for a vacancy on Fond du lac city council  including two former councilmembers.  Former council president Mark Jurgella and former councilmember Mick Burroughs have applied for the vacant seat.  Jurgella presently serves on the Fond du Lac school board.  Other candidates include Nicholas Stoffel, Brian Kolstad, Andy Land, Christopher Madsen, David Washkoviak, John Piper the third, Tanisha Alvarado, Terrance Kraus and Scott Rodman.  The seat became vacant when Rob VandeZande stepped down because of a family medical issue.  Council president Sam Meyer said earlier  he would like to see the field narrowed to six candidates for interviews September 6^th, 9^th and 10^th if necessary with the council voting for a new councilmember at their September 11^th meeting.  The new councilmember will be sworn into office

September 25^th.
