8-28-13 fdl animal shelter opens

The Fond du Lac Animal Shelter has reopened after a parvo virus swept through the shelter killing nine puppies and infecting a total of 19 dogs.  Shelter manager Renee Webb says the surviving puppies are recovering and it appears the danger of the virus spreading  to other dogs is now over.  "It has been the most emotional week for the staff, I on't think that any of us have cried so many times as we have in the last 14 days,"  Webb told AM 1170 WFDL's Between  the Lines program.  Webb says at this point there is no way of knowing where the virus came from.  She  says it could have come from someone walking into the shelter with the virus on their shoe.
