The Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer says a new
report on childhood obesity indicates that something needs to
change. The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says
Wisconsin
is among 20 states that have held steady in the prevalence
of obesity among preschool children whose families were enrolled in the federal Women, Infants and Children program. Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says she wonders what the
parents are feeding themselves? Mueller says another question would be where are these
families getting their food? Nationwide 1 in 8 preschoolers from low income families is
obese. In Wisconsin 31 percent of preschool children participating in the WIC program are
considered overweight or obese.
