10-3-13 farmers impact-government shutdown
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The biggest impact Wisconsin farmers could experience from the government shutdown could be delays in federal payments that typically arrive in October. That's according to Wisconsin Agriculture Secretary Ben Brancel, who spoke Wednesday at the World Dairy Expo in Madison. Brancel says the delays could include any checks dairy farmers might be owed by the federal milk income loss program, which pays farmers when milk prices fall below a certain point.
