10-22-13 suspect arrested in nfdl road rage incident

Shortly before 7:00PM on Monday, October 21st, City of Fond du Lac Police were dispatched to the area of Scott Street and Van Dyne for a “road rage” incident. Following the initial call to dispatch, the vehicles involved in the incident turned north and entered the Village of North Fond du Lac. The caller advised dispatch that she was pulling into the parking lot of Korneli’s Express Convenience Center, 330 Prospect Avenue in North Fond du Lac and the suspect vehicle had also pulled in and was parked behind her.  North Fond du Lac Police were dispatched to that location to assist. Sergeant Michelle Fink was the first officer on scene and immediately pulled behind the suspect vehicle with her emergency lights activated. As soon as she did, the suspect vehicle pulled out of the lot and accelerated north on Prospect Avenue. Sergeant Fink then activated her emergency siren, but the suspect vehicle continued to flee, eventually driving on Wisconsin Avenue before turning east onto Winnebago Street. The suspect vehicle reached a top speed of approximately 45 MPH on Wisconsin Avenue. The suspect vehicle reached the dead end of Winnebago Street east of Indiana Avenue and came to a stop. The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot toward the Canadian National Rail Yard. Sergeant Fink ordered the suspect to stop and gave chase on foot. Sergeant Fink caught the suspect and was assisted by City of Fond du Lac Police Officer Brian Bednarek in taking him into custody.   The suspect, Joseph G. Aleman (M/W DOB 03/13/1982) was arrested by North Fond du Lac Police for Knowingly Fleeing an Officer and Operating While Intoxicated – 2nd offense. He was also issued a citation for Reckless Driving. He was incarcerated in the Fond du Lac County Jail.  The Fond du Lac Police Department handled the original “road rage” incident.
