Public hearings are set on proposed rules regarding
implementation of the Deer Trustee report.
The DNR will hold public hearings from October 22nd to October 31st at 35 locations
statewide. DNR Deer Trustee Report implementation coordinator Eric Lobner says the report
includes 62 recommendations. Lobner says the goal of the report’s recommendations is to
enhance deer management in Wisconsin. Lobner says the bottom line is Wisconsin is a top five deer
hunting state in the country. "There's no doubt about that. You can look at all of the Boone and Crockett, the Pope and Young record books...Wisconsin when you look at the record books it stands out," Lobner told WFDL news. "Wisconsin glows when you consider the state on a national scale." The official comment period will run from October 14th
to November 8th. If you are
unable to attend a public hearing you can complete the survey and
submit comments online at the DNR website.
