The Fond du Lac Public Works Director says he wouldn’t be
surprised if the destructive Emerald Ash Borer is already here. Jordan Skiff says EAB has already been detected to the south and north of
the city of Fond du lac so chances are its here and just hasn’t been
detected yet. "I think the gut feeling from most experts is that its probably already here," Skiff said. "Its within 25 miles south of here, its within 15 miles north of here. It takes several years for it to really manifest itself in our tree population so I believe its probably here, we just haven't detected it yet." Skiff says that’s why its important to take steps now to
lessen the impact of the destructive beetle which has wiped out ash trees in
other states. An information meeting was held Monday evening at the
city-county government center.
