10-23-13 budget conference committee

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin says she "certainly" believes another federal government shutdown can be avoided. Baldwin and Republican Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson both have been named to a special budget conference committee designed to come up with a budget compromise by Dec. 13. U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, of Janesville, is the panel's co-chair. Baldwin says the committee needs to work out a path to stop the government going from one crisis to another.
