- 1970 All-American football player at North Dakota State University, Fargo, North Dakota
- 1971 Began coaching at St. Mary's Springs Academy in August
- Wisconsin's all-time winningest coach, with a 42-year record of 393-101-2 and eight private-school state championships
- Husband of Carol Hyland, and father of Rob (SMSA Class of '92) and Molly (SMSA Class of '94)
