10-9-13 fire prevention week

As part of National Fire Prevention Week the Fond du Lac Fire Department is getting out the word about the dangers associated with kitchen fires.  Chief of Fire Prevention Troy Haase says kitchen fires are the most common type of fires locally and most of them result from unattended cooking.  Haase says so far this year the Fond du lac fire department has responded to 27 kitchen fires.  Meanwhile Haase says with the start of the home heating season its also a good idea for residents to get their wood burning appliances, fireplaces and  furnaces check to make sure they are working properly.
