Carrie Nitz says she was pleased to hear the county had been
approved for a three year, $350,000 federal drug court grant. The grant money will be used to hire a full-time Drug Court coordinator. "We were anticipating starting in October. We have everything in place, we're ready to start as soon as the committees approve the resolution and we can officially accept the grant," Nitz told AM 1170 WFDL's Between the Lines program. Nitz says the Drug Court idea started from a committee
established by the Drug Free Communities Task Force and Fond duLac County
Healthy 2020. She says the drug
court will provide an option to incarceration for non-violent drug offenders who have an addiction. Nitz says the entire drug court team will be working with
the offender.
