A Fond du Lac resident is
being recognized as a Wisconsin hero. Wisconsin first lady, Tonette Walker,
presented a monthly Wisconsin Heroes Award to Joyce Keyes, a volunteer with the
Fond du lac chapter of the American Red Cross. Walker says she enjoys surprising
the award recipient who is unaware until the plaque is handed out. Walker says
Keye’s work with the Red Cross shows how important volunteers are to a
community like Fond du Lac. Keyes volunteers more than 40 hours a week and has
led the Fond du lac County Disaster Action Teams since 2005. Keyes has helped
with multiple disasters over the years from superstorm Sandy, Hurricanes
Katrina, Ike and Isaac, the Alabama tornadoes and the Wisconsin floods of 2008.
