The Wisconsin WIC program is still open for business. That’s the message from Dodge County Public
Health Officer, Jody Langfeldt.
Langfeldt says despite the federal government’s partial shutdown, it’s
still business as usual for the Wisconsin Women Infants and Children Program,
or WIC, through October. WIC is a federally funded program through the U.S.
Department of Agriculture. Langfeldt says
her department has heard rumors and misinformation that WIC programs have
closed in the state. Langfeldt says this
is simply not true. Langfeldt says there could possibly be some impacts to the
program down the road, if the government shutdown becomes a drawn-out affair,
so officials are taking a “wait and see” approach. For program updates, please contact the Dodge
County WIC project at 920-386-3680.
