10-18-13 assembly approves property tax credit
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin state Assembly has approved Gov. Scott Walker's $100 million property tax cut proposal. The measure is racing through the legislative process. Walker introduced it a week ago and on Tuesday the Senate passed it with bipartisan support on a 28-7 vote. It also found broad support in the Assembly passing 88-4. Democrats have complained that the measure is more of a political ploy by Walker to help his re-election efforts next year than anything that will substantially help taxpayers. The cut will reduce the typical homeowner's property tax bill by $13 this year and $20 next year. Republican backers say every little bit helps and the money should be returned to taxpayers.
