6-18-13 green lake county police impersonator update
Green
Lake County authorities continue to investigate a possible police impersonation
near the
City of Berlin. So far, Chief Deputy
Sheriff Mark Putzke says no arrested have been made,
but the Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by
Berlin police and other outside agencies. The
incident came to light last week when an individual called police concerned
about a traffic
stop that occurred on County Highway E, West of County Highway F. The individual says
an adult white male wearing a dark uniform that had a badge with no nametag conducted
the traffic stop. The man gave the
citizen a warning and followed him into the City
of Berlin, continuing into Winnebago County before turning back around. The vehicle was
described as a Black Ford Crown Victoria with “Police” on the side and “911” on
the rear quarter
panel. The vehicle also had red and blue
lights on the inside dash. The man was further
described as 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, short black hair, and a black mustach. Motorists
are asked to report any similar vehicles or incidents to the Green Lake County Sheriff’s
Office.
