7-1-13 nfdl hires new fire/ems manager
The village of North Fond du lac is making an administrative change in the fire department. Village administrator Chuck Hornung says paramedic Steve Koehler is being hired as the new Fire/EMS
manager…replacing the fire chief position. Hornung says as a manager Koehler will oversee the day to day operations of the department while maintaining his 24 shift rotation, on one day and off two. "We felt that would still be enough time to take care of the day to day operations and some of the responsibilities would be pushed down to some of the officers in each of the departments," Hornung told WFDL news. Hornung says initial reaction from fire-ems staff appears to
be supportive of the change. Hornung says while Koehler will receive a stipend to compensate
for his extra duties, the
pay will still be less than if the village had hired a chief. The North Fond du lac Police and Fire Commission is expected to approve the hiring at their meeting Monday evening.
