The Capuchin Franciscan Order has released an audit that
makes public the names of friars with confirmed allegations of sexual
abuse of children and vulnerable adults.
The audit was ordered by the St. Joseph province last June after the president of St. Lawrence Seminary in
Mount Calvary was removed from the ministry for sexually assaulting
minors. The 100 page audit released this week lists 23 current,
former and deceased friars with confirmed allegations of sexual abuse, including
the sexual abuse of 28 students at St. Lawrence Seminary dating back to the 1960s. According to the audit several students came forward in 1992
to report they were sexually abused by friars. The list of the substantiated offenders is posted at www.thecapuchins.org
and clicking on the safe environment tab.
