The head of the Fond du lac Convention and Visitors Bureau
is expressing concern about a proposal that would allow schools to start
anytime they want in the fall. Under current law passed in 2000, schools can’t open any
earlier than September 1st. Attempts to change that have been opposed strongly by the
Wisconsin restaurant and tourism industries.
Fond du Lac Convention and Visitors Bureau president Craig Molitor says those industries rely on high school
workers to fill shifts during
the busy summer months. Molitor also says fewer people will take vacations shortly before
Labor Day.
