BloodCenter of Wisconsin hopes to see more than 100 donors during the two-day
drive to meet the needs of the patients it serves. By donating at the Fond du
Lac County Fair Blood Drive, residents can be assured they will save the day
for patients at local hospitals such as St. Agnes Hospital and Waupun Memorial
Hospital. Flight For Life Operations
throughout south and central Wisconsin rely on the crucial donations of O
negative blood by local donors to make life saving flight operations possible. With three helicopters, based in Waukesha and Fond du Lac - Wisconsin,
and McHenry - Illinois, the Flight For Life Transport System helps augment
health care delivery systems on a local and regional level. When lives depend on the resources of
specialty care facilities and when rapid transfer is a priority, Flight For
Life is ready to respond. Donations
of all blood types are needed, but there is an especially great need for O
negative and platelet donors. Anyone 17 or older who is in general good health
and meets eligibility requirements is encouraged to donate blood. Parental
consent is required for 16-year-olds to donate. The entire process takes about
an hour. Donors should bring a photo ID that includes birth date.
