6-21-13 fdl county township receives recycling grant
The
smallest Township in Fond du Lac County is receiving a grant to help the
environment in a big way. The grant
from Keep America Beautiful will provide the Town of Metomen with 25 recycling
bins to be loaned out free of charge for large gatherings such as ball games,
family reunions, 4th of July picnics and other events. Grant Coordinator Marilyn Peer says
individuals and non-profit organizations can borrow the bins and place them near
trashcans in order to collect recyclable materials. Then, Perr says everything can be
recycled at the Town of Metomen garage or through curbside collection. The only stipulation is that people must
clean the lids and return the empty bins within 48 hours of an event. Perr says she applied for the grant
because she wanted to see less trash in landfills and the bins make clean up
very easy. So far, the Fairwater
Lions and Rosendale Lions have arranged to use them. To borrow Keep America Beautiful bins,
call (920) 748-2928.
