7-1-13 new water well proposed

Fond du lac city officials hope a new water well is up and operating sometime next year.   City manager Joe Moore says a letter was mailed to residents in the area of Arndt street and North Park Avenue last week about the city’s plan to purchase property east of the Boyle Home to locate the new well.  Moore says its hoped that construction could begin this year with the well pumping water late next year.  "We need to relieve some of the demand from what we call our southern well field and we need to augment some of the capacity in the north well field,"  Moore told WFDL news.

Moore says the project is expensive, but is included in the water department’s capital improvement plan budget and is not expected to increase water rates.  Moore says the new well is necessary to increase the city’s drinking water capacity.
