The Fond du lac County Sheriff’s Office will be cracking
down on drunken boaters this weekend. The
Sheriff’s office will be participating in Operation Dry Water Friday through Sunday, as part of a nationally coordinated
effort to reduce accidents and fatalities caused by boating under the
influence. Sheriff’s captain Rick Olig says there seems to be a
different mindset when it comes to drinking and boating compared to alcohol and
automobiles. U.S. Coast Guard data shows that alcohol is the primary
contributing factor in recreational boating fatalities.
