7-1-13 lake winnebago drowning

An elderly Sheboygan Falls man has drowned while windsurfing on Lake Winnebago near Roosevelt Park in Fond du Lac.  Sheriff’s Captain Rick Olig says the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call shortly after 4:30pm Saturday reporting a missing windsurfer.  The caller reported a wind surfing rig had washed up on shore.  The Sheriff's Office boat patrol and Coast Guard immediately responded to the area and began a search.  A second Sheriff's Office boat, the Dive Team and Coast Guard helicopter was deployed.  Olig says the body of the 71 year old victim was recovered shortly after 6pm about 300 yards from shore.  He was not wearing a life jacket.
