The Fond du Lac Retlaw Hotel
owners waited until the last minute…but have made good on their financial obligation to the city. City
manager Joe Moore told WFDL news late Tuesday afternoon the hotel paid its $39,000 bill in back taxes and
utility fees. Tuesday was the deadline for the hotel to make good on its debt or face
losing its alcohol licenses.
The city council is scheduled to take up the matter at their meeting Wednesday.
Councilmember Dan Manning says he
was pleased to hear the news and
plans to vote to renew the hotel’s alcohol and liquor license at Wednesday night’s council meeting. Councilmember Rob VandeZande says while he is pleased the
Retlaw has paid its bills, he is still undecided about how he will vote on the hotel’s
alcohol licenses. Earlier this month the city manager rejected the hotel
owner’s offer to wipe the slate clean with a $25,000 payment.
