MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Senate Democrats have used a procedural move to delay a final vote on passing a bill that would require physicians to provide or arrange an ultrasound for women seeking abortions. The Senate debated the measure Tuesday, a week after it was introduced, but Democrats used a procedural move to delay a vote until Wednesday morning. The Assembly hoped to take it up Thursday. The measure is sponsored by Republican Sen. Mary Lazich (LAH'-zik). It would require doctors to perform or arrange for the ultrasound, except in a medical emergency or cases where the pregnancy is caused by sexual assault or incest. Doctors would have to show the ultrasound image to the woman and provide a thorough description of the fetus' features.
