6-5-13 fdl county clerk doesn't like proposed election law changes

The Fond du Lac County Clerk doesn’t like a proposed bill that would allow election observers to move closer to the voter registration table on election day.  The bill, sponsored by Republican representative Don Pridemore, would allow election day observers  within five feet of the voter registration table and check in table.  Currently they must stand 6-12 feet away.  Fond du lac County Clerk Lisa Freiberg says she is concerned the voting registration area could become more crowded creating confusion.  Freiberg says she is also concerned that this could intimidate some voters and poll workers.  The bill would also allow the chief inspector at a polling place or a municipal clerk to allow an election observer to sit at either of the tables.
