6-20-13 fdl county social services board pulls building naming policy resolution from agenda

A resolution amending a Fond du Lac County policy prohibiting the naming of any county-owned building after any individual has been pulled from consideration at least for now.  The resolution was pulled prior to this week's Fond du lac County Board meeting.   County Board chairman Marty Farrell says the social services board wanted to  rename a transitional living unit building after the late Social services director Kim Mooney.  "Everyone that I know on the board had extremely high regard for Kim Mooney and it was a devastating loss for us at such a young age.  However, whether we should amend that policy, which I think most of us feel has served us well and has avoided a lot of divisive conflict, that's another question,"  Farrell said.  Farrell says there are other ways of honoring the memory and accomplishments of a former county employee…and such was the case with Mooney shortly after her untimely death.  The county board approved a special resolution several months ago specifically citing the outstanding service of Kim Mooney.
