6-20-13 craigslist pet adoption

The Fond du lac Animal Shelter manager says a recent incident involving a pet adoption on Craigslist shows the potential pitfalls of adoting an animal online.   Fond du lac police are investigating after two dogs adopted on Craigslist were starved to near death and found abandoned in the original owner’s driveway.  Fond du Lac animal shelter manager, Renee Webb says the incident is a case in point why the Fond du lac animal shelter tries to make sure a pet is going to a good, caring home.  " Unfortunately the economy being the way it is people are sometimes having to let their pets go because they just can't afford it anymore or they have to move.  But people need to be very, very careful when it comes to not only giving pets away online, but also taking pets online,"  Webb said.  Webb says some people get upset when they are told they have to fill out an application and undergo a background check before they can adopt a dog or cat from the Fond du Lac Animal Shelter.
