6-18-13 state budget debate

The state Assembly plans to begin debate of the state budget, with Republicans hoping to defeat any significant changes to the $70 billion two-year spending plan. The budget up for debate Tuesday would cut
income taxes by $650 million and reject a federally funded Medicaid expansion.  The Senate Republican leader says he is very pleased with the state budget approved  by the Jt. Finance Committee.  State senator Scott Fitzgerald says he believes the key  component is the proposed income tax cut of about $650 million over the next two years.
