6-15-13 dodge county man convicted in alcohol related hit and run involving police squad
A Juneau man has pleaded guilty to a charge for
crashing his vehicle into the back of a Juneau Police Department squad car while
intoxicated and fleeing the scene. 42
year old Chad Buelter entered the plea yesterday to a charge of OWI causing
injury. A charge of hit and run
involving injury was dismissed. The
Dodge County Sheriff’s Department says in April 2012, Juneau Police Officer
Brittany Borchardt was parked on the side of the roadway and in her squad car on
West Oak Grove Street ,
when an SUV struck the rear of the squad.
Officer Borchardt suffered non-life threatening injuries. The Sheriff’s
Department says Buelter got out of his vehicle and fled from the scene. He was later found in an area near Lake Sinissippi . A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for
August 21st.
