Less than a month after giving the owners of the embattled
Fond du Lac Retlaw Hotel yet another chance to make good on its debt, the city has
rejected a payment proposal from the hotel owners .
Fond du Lac city councilmember Rob Vande Zande says he supports city manager Joe Moore 100-percent in rejecting the Retlaw’s
offer to wipe the slate clean with a $25,000 payment, when the hotel still owes $39,000. "...its very disturbing that they (hotel owners) are trying to take advantage of the city. The city has bent over backwards many times in dealing with this situation," VandeZande told WFDL news. The Fond du lac Alcohol License Committee voted earlier this
month to give the Retlaw until June 25th to pay up or lose its
alcohol licenses. The Retlaw owes back taxes and utility fees.
