6-14-13 rabies tests come back negative on dog

A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s report shows how chaotic the situation was when a dog attacked several horses at a Fond du lac County riding stable this week.  The pit bull injured six horses at Free Spirit riders just east of the City of Fond du Lac before the dog was kicked in the head and killed by one of the horses.   Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Mark Strand says the dog’s owner  had briefly got a hold of  his dog after the first horse was attacked but the dog broke free and continued on its rampage.  "It (dog) had attacked one of the horses and the individuals were able to get the dog by the collar and actually put it in a vehicle,"  Strand told AM 1170 WFDL's Between the Lines program.  "But the dog was tearing up the inside of the vehicle so they went to remove the dog from the vehicle and, its about a 70-80 pound Pitbull, and its pretty powerful, and it took off and broke the leash and went back into the pasture and caused even more damage to the point of I think several horses."   Meanwhile rabies tests on the dog have come back negative.
