12-30-13 fdl police investigate downtown shooting

Fond du Lac police are continuing their investigation into a weekend shooting incident in downtown Fond du lac. Shortly after 2:30am Saturday police were called to the area of Main St and 2nd St in the city of Fond du Lac reference multiple shots being fired.  Officers were in the area at the time performing directed patrol and were on the scene immediately.  Officers were able to pursue and apprehend two suspects that were fleeing the area on foot in the area of 1st
and Main St. One victim a 30 year old male from Fond du Lac was struck by a round fired by the suspect, however, the bullet struck the victim's belt buckle stopping the bullet from causing serious injury.  Officers were able to determine that 4 shots in total were fired.  One suspect, a 34 year old male from Fond du Lac is being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail in connection to the shooting.   The second suspect, a 19 year old male was released from custody after questioning. Police are still trying to determine what led up to the altercation and the investigation is ongoing.
