12-17-13 beaver dam lake rescue

The Dodge County Sheriff says alcohol appears to be a factor in an all-terrain vehicle accident on Beaver Dam Lake.  Sheriff Pat Ninmann says  an ATV operator was rescued after he drove his ATV off the ice and into open water early Saturday morning.  Ninmann says the subject would have been rescued much earlier if he had dialed 911.  "Here you have a subject who has a waterproof  cellphone and he chooses to call one of the bartenders at the local establishment to get help, versus calling 911,"  Ninmann told AM 1170 WFDL's Between the Lines program.  "If he would have dialed 911, having a phase-two cell phone, it would have provided the officers with a more exact location so they wouldn't have had to use some of their other tools and would have got to him a little bit quicker."  The driver, 32 year old Raymond Cody from Beaver Dam,  was arrested for operating an ATV while intoxicated.
