Fond du Lac congressman Tom Petri says a two year budget
agreement is a step in the right direction. Petri voted in favor of the package last week and predicts passage in the Senate. The bipartisan plan was reached only a month after it appeared there was no chance
of both sides reaching a compromise. "Well its the season," Petri said. "Its not perfect but rarely do you see a perfect piece of legislation. They're usually the result of trying to cut a number of different compromises in order to get together a sufficient backing to pass it." Petri says one specific area he is concerned about that was
not addressed is the change in the rule for military pensions for people
who are retiring after 20 years of service. Petri says another disappointment is failure to pass a new
farm bill. Petri was a guest on AM 1170 WFDL's Between the Lines program.
