Two Republican lawmakers say they plan to reintroduce a
voter ID law next year. State
representatives Mark Born and Michael Schraa say their bill would ensure election security while
providing reasonable
alternatives for those who legitimately don’t have proper
photo ID to show at the polls. Born says the bill will be reintroduced next session because "elections are too important to let a system ripe for fraud to continue
any longer." Opponents argue that voting is a constitutional right and
that there have been no documented cases of voter impersonation in
Wisconsin.
