The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office says investigators
have an idea where they think a gun was fired when an errant bullet
struck a fisherman in the leg over the holiday weekend. The 51 year old victim was treated at the hospital and released. Sheriff’s Lieutenant Cameron McGee says the incident happened Sunday evening on Auburn Lake near
Campbellsport. McGee says the incident is a reminder that people who are
target shooting need to know what is beyond their target. McGee says it appears to be a small caliber bullet that was fired from a distance of between a
quarter mile and up to a half mile. McGee says detectives have interviewed some people but so
far no one has stepped forward to claim responsibility.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s tip line at 906-4777.
